Centennial of Flight is inspiring career dreams

(NC)—This summer as thousands of Canadians gather at air shows across the country, our Air Force pilots, engineers, and technicians will not be shy to tell you that “there really is no life like it”.

Watch for kiosks and displays while at the air shows, and at scores of other annual events, where you may also get an opportunity to tour a CF-18 fighter jet cockpit. Mark on your calendar, for starters, the Halifax International Tattoo, the Calgary Stampede, and the Bagotville Air Show. The kiosk presentations are set up for career information and for a chance to talk directly to the military personnel who are also looking for the best and the brightest.

Among those who will be participating at select air shows this summer is former CF-18 fighter pilot and astronaut Chris Hadfield, scheduled to fly a fully refurbished Cold War fighter jet, named "Hawk One" after the Golden Hawks, Canada's aerial demonstration team formed in 1959 to mark the 50th anniversary of flight.

"It will be fun,” he said, “to meet young Canadians across the country to tell them about Canada's role in the history of aviation, about the opportunities today, and about some of the amazing things that are coming in the near future.”
