(NC)—Did you know that cold water takes heat from our body twenty-five times faster than air? When you are in water, your body's ability to exchange heat with the environment reaches its highest level. This is why cold water is so dangerous.
Even if you are in top shape and are able to swim through the roughest waters, you can still die from cold-water shock.
Knowing how cold water affects our body and how to reduce its effects is critical. One way to increase your chances of survival is to wear a lifejacket. A lifejacket will keep you afloat as you try to gain control of your breathing.
